We asked you all, Black Freelancers, to share what "I Am a Black Freelancer" means to you through art during Black Futures month.
Over the last few weeks, 21 contestants submitted original creative pieces focused on what Black Freelancer meant to them. First, we want to thank each of the 21 contestants. Your art inspires us, reminds us why the mission of Black Freelancer matters and challenges us to ensure we fulfill this mission.
After reviewing all of the submissions, we are proud to announce our winner is Black Freelancer, Lo Mitchell! Lo will receive $500 in (specify cryptocurrency). In addition, Black Freelancer will use Lo's piece to promote our organization's creative talent, creating more opportunities to showcase her talented work.
For me, being a Black Freelancer is all about knowing who you are created to be, and therefore, being truly free to express yourself and speak your voice. The Black Narrative has shaped the world, and taking ownership of our accomplishments makes me proud—I believe by connecting with others, our voice becomes stronger. Coming together, sharing our stories, inviting others into our narrative, helps us to bound forward with hope for our creative futures. Connection keeps us going. Living the creative life can only be established by being seen, and connecting with others. Your creative life survives on the growth from real, authentic connection.
Please join us in congratulating Lo. Follow her on Instagram @creatorfollowing and consider hiring her for any freelance needs.
We are just getting started! The work we are all putting in daily is about Black Futures. If you haven’t already, Sign Up for Beta Access and Black Freelancer's Discord community to join us as we continue to highlight and celebrate Black Talent and Creatives.
